A pair have been arrested and charged on suspected domestic abuse involving a wooden stick in the southwest of Sydney after a child was seriously injured.
Emergency services were called to Cabramatta’s Chadderton St property about 9.50pm on Friday where police found the five-year-old who was sustaining serious injuries.
The boy was treated by paramedics before being admitted to hospital in Liverpool.
Later he was admitted to Westmead’s The Children’s Hospital where he remains in critical condition.
NSW Police can claim the child was hit with a wooden stick in court.
Adam Fowler, a paediatric neurosurgeon at Westmead’s Children’s Hospital, said it was the “worst case of suspected child beating” he ‘d seen in his career.
20-year-old man and 31-year-old woman identified to the child were arrested.
The pair have both been denied bail and are scheduled to appear on Saturday in Parramatta Bail Court.
