Daniel Andrews ‘gives pet grooming the tick of approval’ but won’t let Melbourne bars to reopen

In Melbourne, pet groomers have been added to a list of providers that will be able to resume trade by the end of the month.

The latest roadmap of the city out of restrictions on coronavirus excluded pet grooming services when it was published last sunday.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews, however, said the service will be permitted to reopen from September 28, on Saturday.

“It must be a venue, it cannot be a mobile pet grooming business,” he said.

“Mobile was not judged to be safe at this time by the public health experts.”

The service must be contactless and Andrews said pet grooming is important from an animal welfare point of view, even though it might seem like a trivial issue.
