A man has been charged after a primary school girl in the outer east of Melbourne was reportedly sexually assaulted.
Police claimed the 11-year-old girl was sexually assaulted around 4.30pm on September 5 near Willow Rd in Upper Ferntree Gully.
Knox Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Unit investigators swooped at a 43-year-old Upwey man about a week later, arresting him on the Ferny Creek bike path in Ferntree Gully on 11 September.
Leading Senior Constable Adam West said the man was charged with committing sexual assault on a child under the age of 16 and possessing material for child exploitation.
He was bailed out to appear at a later date at Ringwood Magistrates ‘ Court.
