Quaden Bayles, who had gone viral earlier this year after his mum had posted a heartbreaking video of him breaking down after being bullied, has just undergone his 11th operation.
The nine-year-old, who was born with achondroplasia – the most common form of dwarfism, went under the knife in Brisbane’s Queensland Children’s Hospital on Monday in a operation to remove eight teeth due to overcrowding.
Mum Yarraka Bayles has taken to the Facebook page of Stand Tall 4 Dwarfism to keep followers updated, posting an X-ray of his mouth.
“Quaden just went under anaesthetic, needing 8 more teeth out, 7 years after he had 7 teeth out due to overcrowding as you can see from his most recent X-ray,” she wrote.
“We all know he’s got a big mouth but just not big enough for all these teeth trying to come through bless him.”
“Hopefully we can get to go home if he is coping OK with treatment,” she said.
The story of the nine-year-old encouraged thousands to contribute more than $670,000 that was donated to many charities, including those working to support Indigenous communities.
Sadly, his emotional problems have led to a cruel consipracy about his age, one that prompted Yarraka to post a photograph of his passport in an effort to shut it down.
Yarraka has since updated followers, saying Quaden was “recovering like a champ” and was ready to go home.
“So proud of you my SonShine @quaden_the_kid, strongest, smartest guy I know,” she said.
