Senior cop suspended after violent Melbourne arrest

After a violent arrest in North Melbourne a senior police officer has been suspended.

Footage emerged on Sunday, which seemed to show police driving moments at a man before a cop allegedly stomping on his head during an Epping arrest.

Since reportedly evading police when an officer tried to kick him with his foot, Tim, 32, was face down on the median stripe.

“Am I witnessing this? What the f***”, one of the men who filmed the incident can be heard saying as the other adds: “That is f***ed up”.

A Victoria Police spokesperson confirmed earlier today that a Senior Constable from the Critical Incident Response Team was suspended on Monday night “following his involvement in a protracted incident which commenced at the Northern Hospital at Epping.”

“Professional Standards Command continue to investigate the matter and are currently assessing all available information.”

Anyone who has seen the incident or has dashcam or smartphone pictures is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers.
