Victoria has reported 42 new coronavirus infections and no deaths overnight, as the 14-day case averages continue to decline in regional Victoria and metropolitan Melbourne.
It is the first day in more than two months without death from a coronavirus. The last day registered was 13 July with zero deaths.
Premier Daniel Andrews has announced that Victoria will be able to move on tomorrow to the next phase in the roadmap in restrictions from 11:59pm.
“It is a massive thing. It is a very positive thing,” he said.
“It is something we should all be very pleased and proud of, the job that regional Victorians have done.”
The average 14 day daily case for Metropolitan Melbourne is now 52.9, down from 54.4 yesterday.
Regional Victoria’s are currently 3.6, down from yesterday’s 3.9.
